A downloadable game

Travel. Skirmish. Recover. is a post-apocalyptic fantasy game set on a ruined Earth, untold years after an event remembered only as the Great Ruin. The world was sundered and nothing is where it should be. The landscape is littered with impossible ruins that the remnants of humanity must now navigate. Their only goals are to reclaim lost knowledge, fight the unnatural things that inhabit the ruins, and try to survive day after day.

It was written for the 24-word RPG Jam (and also submitted to ttRPG JAMuary) and requires at least 1 Player and a Game Master to narrate their adventures.

After brainstorming a few ideas, I determined that I wanted to write the type of game that I would be least likely to make, while still putting my own spin it. With that, a vaguely fantasy d20  game was born, inspired by the games of yesteryear. The main mechanic involves rolling 1d20 underneath a stat value, with the option to call upon character background elements or equipment to help them succeed. These are represented by d4 rolls that are subtracted from the main d20 roll. That's it!

The mechanics and character sheet combine to form a table that fits on half of a letter size sheet of paper. In order to begin, all you need to do is:

  1. Assign the 15/10/5 values to your Attributes. 
  2. Make note of your Upbringing and Occupation.
  3. Write down what you're Holding, Wearing, and Carrying.
